What we covered this week
Math: We began measurement
Reading: Our theme for the week was Bugs, Bugs, Bugs! Our main selection was Dot and Jabber and the Big Bug Mystery. Our purpose for reading was: questioning, drawing conclusions and using illustrations to infer.

Reading: Our theme for the week is Exploring Space! Our main selection will be Blue Jay Finds his Way. Our purpose for reading will be: predicting, retelling and rereading to understand.

What we covered this week

Math: We began fractions. The class did a great job!!
Reading: Our theme for the week was How Does it Grow. Our main selection was A Fruit Is A Suitcase for Seeds. Our purpose for reading was: questioning and classifying and categorizing.

Next week is Earth Week! Students should wear the following colors on the specific days listed to represent parts of our Earth.

Monday- wear blue for water
Tuesday- wear yellow for the sun
Wednesday- wear brown for soil
Thursday- wear green for trees
Friday-wear white for air

Our field trip will be on Friday, April 24th. We are looking forward to a great day! I will send a reminder note home on Tuesday with any updated information.

What we covered this week

Math: We began learning about money! I have attached a letter explaining the program we will be using and how you can help at home.

Reading: Our theme for the week was Weather. Our main selection was Stormy Weather. Our purpose for reading was: Predicting and comparing and contrasting

Social Studies & Science: Presidents Day activities and learning about Illinois.

· Dorn has a new policy regarding any child who is purchasing a lunch. If you send your child to school with lunch money daily, the exact amount will need to be sent. Change will no longer be given. Lunch prices are $1.85 per day or $9.75 for an entire week. Milk is .40.

Our Valentines Day party will be on Thursday 2/12 from 2:00-3:00. We now have 24 students in our classroom. Attached is a list of all the students from our classroom. If you choose to send Valentines, please send one for every child in the class. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me.


We have no school on Monday, February 16th because of President Day!
